Cinedom Cologne

This spectacular star ceiling dome spans 25 metres above the central concourse of one of the largest multiplex cinemas in Europe.

A wide variety of different fibre sizes and output termination types was used to generate a starscape of maximum realism, incorporating planets and constellations. Dusted across the centre are the smallest fibres, depicting the Milky Way.

Dramatically from time to time, and using sequenced fibres across three interconnected light sources, a red-tailed comet is seen to shoot across the massive stellarscape.

All the lightsourcs, one per panel for the general starscape plus the 3 for the comet, are situated for easy maintenance along the walkway around the perimeter of the ceiling.
