The Orange Telecommunications Spine

Absolute Action designed and manufactured the fibre optic lighting that pulses through the spine sculpture in Bristol. All light sources are readily accessible for maintenance as is the bespoke DMX system which controls the animation.

Tony Rimmer of Imagination, the lighting designer for the project, explains: "The white light in the central core is a continual effect that starts at the base of the mast and fills up the core gradually from bottom to top, then empties from top to bottom, replicating a sinusoidal wave. This is followed by a chase of white light from the fibre optics which pulses up and down the mast."

On specifying Absolute Action for the project, Mr Rimmer continues: "Absolute Action offers good products and have the technical back-up when required. The results on this project are amazing and fulfil the brief entirely. The finished installation is identical to the visual produced by myself a year before completion."
